Ledgerbound Controls
Documented input patterns for grid tactics, the action wheel, and camp conversations until official charts ship.
Ledgerbound’s control scheme is only partly published ahead of August 11, 2026, but preview sessions establish a consistent loop: move units on a grid, queue actions through an action wheel, and manage camp conversations between ledger zones. This guide collects every binding and UI pattern verified in official trailers and demo coverage so you can start the Prologue without guessing—while clearly marking anything still subject to change.
Control overview
Combat and exploration split across two modes:
- Grid tactics mode — cursor or direct unit selection on tiles; movement points and action points display separately.
- Camp and UI mode — menu navigation for gear, vouchers, save terminals, and dialogue wheels with companions like HULG and Eldarra.
Switching modes is context-driven: entering camp auto-switches to menus; selecting Deploy or Continue claim returns you to the grid.
Mouse and keyboard (documented patterns)
The following table reflects demo and trailer behavior on Windows PC. Keys may change in retail; verify after launch.
| Action | Binding (known) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Select unit / confirm tile | Left click | Double-click sometimes speeds movement along path |
| Cancel / back | Right click (context) or Esc | Context-sensitive |
| Open action wheel | Right click hold or tap | Opens radial menu at cursor |
| Queue skill or item | Click wheel segment | Element icon shown before confirm |
| End turn | Enter or on-screen button | Prominent in tutorial |
| Camera rotate / zoom | Middle mouse or Q/E | Preview builds only |
| Camp interact | F or click prompt | Used at ledger fire and terminals |
The action wheel is the highest-friction system for new players. Hold right click on a selected unit to display skills, consumables, and ledger abilities arranged radially. Hover highlights Water, Fire, or Plant affinity—consult Element Matchup if icons blur together.
Grid movement respects movement points first; after moving, the wheel still accepts action points for attacks. Ending turn early is intentional when AP remains but enemies are out of range.
Steam Deck and controller notes
Hands-on previews on Steam Deck map the wheel to left trigger (LT) while face buttons confirm selections. Movement uses the left stick or d-pad to shift grid focus, depending on demo option toggles.
| Action | Deck mapping (reported) |
|---|---|
| Action wheel | Left trigger |
| Confirm | A button |
| Back / cancel | B button |
| End turn | Y or on-screen prompt |
Deck players should raise UI scale in Steam OS if tile text clips. System Requirements lists handheld-friendly specs indirectly via GPU headroom.
Full controller glyph support for Xbox and PlayStation layouts has not been shown; assume Steam Input defaults until patched.
Camp conversation controls
Camp scenes pause combat pressure but introduce dialogue wheels:
- Approach an ally with a marker above their portrait.
- Press interact (F on PC, A on Deck) to open branching topics.
- Some topics consume camp time slots—see Camp Planner for scheduling ideas.
Missing HULG topics before leaving camp can forfeit voucher rewards documented on Vouchers and Swag. Dialogue uses the same confirm/back keys as menus.
Grid tactics tips tied to inputs
Controls and tactics intertwine:
- Flanking requires diagonal or rear tile clicks; the game highlights valid tiles in green when a unit is selected.
- Action wheel skills may target tiles or units; mouse players drag some AOE templates, while controller users cycle targets with bumpers in preview footage (unconfirmed binding).
- Undo movement appears in tutorial only; retail may remove it outside easy difficulty.
Practice the wheel in the prologue’s Fire encounter before Plant enemies appear, matching A.R.T.E. teaching order.
Menus outside combat
Ledgerbound spreads inventory, claim docket, and artifact journal across separate tabs:
- Inventory — redeem vouchers via linked terminal prompts.
- Claim docket — tracks insurance appeal rank toward Vacari.
- Artifacts — quest log for evidence collection.
Keyboard users navigate with arrow keys and Enter; mouse users click tabs directly. No unified search bar was shown pre-launch.
What is still unknown
OmniMegaSuperCorp has not confirmed:
- Complete rebind menus for every action.
- Gyro aiming on Deck for grid cursor.
- Touch support on macOS trackpads beyond click emulate.
- Accessibility remaps for action wheel hold versus toggle.
We will append official charts when Steam updates the store page or in-game manual on launch day.
Recommended setup before day one
- Update GPU drivers to support listed DirectX tiers in System Requirements.
- Plug in a mouse for first playthrough even if you own a Deck—learning the grid is easier with precise cursor control.
- Run the prologue tutorial completely; it gates advanced wheel skills.
- Bookmark Walkthrough Hub for steps referencing the same vocabulary.
